Deep Sea Creatures

It is amazing to see that the deep sea is something that we still have just barely explored.  Some of the deep sea creatures that have been discovered look as strange as any alien creatures you might see.  Some even look like glowing transparent cucumbers, something so strange people are still trying to figure out where they have come from, or how they evolved.

Now, there are some more common deep sea creatures that we all know about such as the Angler Fish.  This fairly ugly fish has some pretty odd habits including the male who attaches itself to its mate for life and has to live off of the female’s food intake.  The female finds food by a light which is at the end of something which looks almost like a fishing rod.  This light attracts fish, and then the female quickly snaps up the pray.

In the news more recently was a creature most people have probably not seen before, although this creature is by no means new to scientists.  The Giant Deep Sea Isopod, was recently brought up by a submarine to the surface and has now gained popularity.  This creature basically feeds off of the dead sea creatures.  It looks like a cross between a potato bug and possibly a cockroach.
